People from 80 different countries can now visit Belarus without needing a visa for up to 5 days if they arrive through Minsk National Airport. This change comes after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree eliminating visa requirements for certain foreign visitors.
This new visa-free policy is available to citizens from 39 European countries, including all EU member states, as well as countries like Brazil, Indonesia, the USA, and Japan. Essentially, it applies to nations without migration issues, those that are strategic partners of Belarus, and those that have already lifted visas for Belarusian citizens.
The visa-free entry is also applicable to specific traveler groups such as non-citizens of Latvia and stateless individuals from Estonia. To enter Belarus without a visa, travelers need a valid passport or travel document, a certain amount of money (equivalent to 42 Belarusian rubles for each day of their stay), and medical insurance that is valid in Belarus.
However, citizens from Vietnam, Haiti, Gambia, Honduras, India, China, Lebanon, Namibia, and Samoa must also have a valid multiple-entry visa to any EU or Schengen area country, prove that they have previously entered these regions, and possess tickets confirming their departure from Minsk National Airport within 5 days from their arrival date.
It’s important to note that this visa-free policy does not apply to travelers arriving from Russia or those intending to fly to Russia. The decree will become effective one month after its official publication.
