Ryanair, the popular Irish airline, announced today that it will be updating its baggage policy starting November 1st. We’ve highlighted the key changes for you, but if you want all the details, check out Ryanair’s website.
Ryanair is a leading airline in Europe, operating over 1,600 daily flights from 72 bases. They connect 189 destinations across 30 countries and have a fleet of more than 300 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Recently, they’ve placed firm orders for 280 more Boeing 737 planes and have options for an additional 100 Boeing 737 MAX 200s. These acquisitions will help Ryanair lower fares and increase traffic from 90 million passengers this year to over 150 million annually by 2024. The airline employs more than 9,500 skilled aviation professionals and boasts a stellar 30-year safety record.
Here are the main updates to the baggage policy:
– The weight allowance for checked-in bags will increase from 15kg to 20kg.
– The fee for the standard checked-in bag will decrease from €/£35 to €/£25 for the 20kg bag. However, during peak times like Easter, Christmas, and the busy summer months, there will be an extra €/£10 fee due to higher handling costs.
– Only Priority Boarding customers (including Plus, Flexi Plus, and Family Plus) will be allowed to bring two bags into the cabin: one regular-sized bag (55cm x 40cm x 20cm) and one small bag (35cm x 20cm x 20cm).
– All other customers will need to put their larger cabin bag (the wheelie bag) in the hold for free but can still bring their smaller bag into the cabin.
– If you want to bring all your luggage on board, you will need to add Priority Boarding to your booking. Priority Boarding costs €/£5 at the time of booking or €/£6 if added later, up to one hour before the scheduled flight departure via the Ryanair app.
The new baggage policy takes effect on November 1st and will apply to all bookings and flights from that date onward.
