Spanish news outlet Preferente reported on Friday that the hotel booking platform AMOMA has shut down and declared bankruptcy. AMOMA was notable for being one of the few booking platforms independent of the Expedia and Priceline groups.
AMOMA.com was the third-largest online hotel booking platform in the world. It was designed to help travelers find the best hotel deals at unbeatable prices. The website operated in 21 languages and featured over 230,000 properties in 200 countries. AMOMA.com offered a user-friendly interface for booking anything from hostels to five-star luxury hotels, and provided expert customer support throughout the entire process. The platform boasted some of the best hotel deals in 57,000 destinations and allowed users to choose from more than 300,000 hotels to find and book rooms at the best rates.
On Saturday, AMOMA ceased accepting new bookings and posted a notice on their website instructing affected users to contact their hotel and bank to confirm the cancellation of their reservations and to obtain written confirmation as proof.
