The European Commission has opened applications for DiscoverEU travel passes. If you’re an 18-year-old in the EU, you have until November 28, 2019, to apply. This gives you the chance to explore Europe from April 1, 2020, to October 31, 2020.
DiscoverEU, a European Union initiative, allows you to explore Europe through various learning experiences. Mainly traveling by train, with exceptions for those on islands or in remote areas, you can take in Europe’s beautiful landscapes and diverse cities and towns. Young folks can apply during two application rounds each year. If selected, you’ll get a travel pass.
As an EU citizen who is 18 years old, DiscoverEU provides an opportunity to experience the freedom of movement within the EU. You can explore Europe’s diversity, learn about its rich cultural heritage and history, and meet people from all over the continent. Additionally, participating in DiscoverEU helps you develop valuable life skills such as independence, confidence, and an openness to other cultures.
Since the first application round in June 2018, nearly 50,000 young people have received a travel pass. The next round of applications runs from Thursday, November 7, 2019, at noon (CET) to Thursday, November 28, 2019, at noon (CET). On the start date, an ‘Apply Now’ button will be available on the application page.

If chosen, you can travel anywhere from one day to 30 days between April 1, 2020, and October 31, 2020.
If you have a disability or health issues that make traveling difficult, DiscoverEU provides special conditions to help you join in.
You have the flexibility to travel alone or bring up to four friends. You can also plan meet-ups and coordinate travel plans with other DiscoverEU travelers through the DiscoverEU Facebook Group, which is a great platform to connect with other participants.
As a DiscoverEU Ambassador, you can share your travel experiences on social media using DiscoverEU. You might even give a presentation at your school or within your community.
