Qantas has been named the safest airline in the world for 2021 by AirlineRatings.com, which is the only site that rates safety, products, and COVID-19 measures for airlines.
Additionally, AirlineRatings.com has released its lists for the Top Twenty safest airlines and the Top Ten Safest Low-Cost Airlines for 2021 out of the 385 airlines it monitors.
These top airlines are known for their leadership in safety innovations and the introduction of new aircraft, consistently setting standards for excellence.
In evaluating the safest airlines, AirlineRatings.com considers a variety of factors such as the airline’s crash and serious incident records, audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies, government evaluations, pioneering safety efforts, and the age of their fleets.
Geoffrey Thomas, Editor-in-Chief of AirlineRatings.com, highlighted that these airlines excel in safety, innovation, and the deployment of new aircraft. He pointed out that the differences among the top 20 airlines are minimal and that they all offer exceptional safety records.
He further explained that the assessment focuses only on serious incidents. While all airlines experience incidents daily, many of these are due to aircraft manufacturing issues rather than operational faults. The difference between a safe airline and an unsafe one depends on how well the flight crew handles these incidents.
Launched in June 2013, AirlineRatings.com uses a unique seven-star rating system to evaluate the safety and in-flight products of 385 airlines. It is trusted by millions of passengers from 195 countries and is recognized as the industry benchmark for safety, products, and COVID-19 measures.
