Have you ever felt a deep desire to connect with nature, feeling its essence with every part of your being? Think back to our ancestors who walked barefoot—they were likely healthier and stronger. Nature provides all the strength we need; we just have to stay connected to it. These days, the market offers products that help us feel this connection, like footwear that resembles socks.
Meet SKINNERS 2.0, a versatile, ultra-lightweight, and portable footwear perfect for a range of activities. Made from high-quality materials, they are durable and can be used on various surfaces, making them ideal for hiking, camping, traveling, and working out. Let’s explore this compact yet extremely comfortable footwear together.
Searching for light yet functional gear for sports and travel can feel endless, especially when it comes to footwear. After selling over 300,000 pairs, Skinners—the minds behind the innovative 4-in-1 footwear—are now launching the second version of their unique product on Kickstarter. In just two weeks, they’ve already raised over $600,000 and are on track to break their previous records.
Proper foot function in footwear is essential, and Skinners 2.0 does this by combining the comfort of socks with the protection of shoes. Designed for travel and sports enthusiasts, Skinners offer compact yet protective footwear without the bulk and weight of regular shoes. They are versatile, comfortable, and sustainably made, suitable for both outdoor and indoor use.
Skinners’ minimalist design houses more than ten reliable features. The footwear is made with three-layered, quick-drying StretchKnit™, composed of six functional fibers. It also includes a durable sole made from Swedish polymer, a perforated insole, and an anatomical fit based on thousands of foot scans. Handmade in Europe, Skinners use a unique, patented zero-waste technology.
This innovative company has already made a significant impact, and with 300,000 pairs sold, several design awards—including the prestigious German Red Dot—and a loyal customer base, Skinners seem poised to become a major market player. The idea for this lightweight footwear came from Petr Prochazka, a young law clerk, during a summer in Norway in 2014. While working as a cook, Prochazka’s friend injured his foot and couldn’t wear traditional shoes. Trying to help, Petr used a travel sewing kit to create the first Skinners prototype. Two years later, he launched the final product via a Kickstarter campaign, which became the most successful footwear campaign at that time.
