EasyJet has now expanded its flight-connection service ‘Worldwide by easyJet’ to include seven more airports and two additional airlines, Thomas Cook Airlines and Tui-owned Corsair in France.
The budget airline promises to bring more partners on board throughout 2018 and is currently in deep discussions with airlines in the Middle East and Far East for further expansion.
EasyJet first introduced its connections platform at Gatwick last September, allowing passengers to book long-haul connecting flights with Norwegian Air and WestJet of Canada. This platform extended to Milan Malpensa in partnership with Italian airline Neos earlier this spring.
Now, they have integrated with Thomas Cook Airlines for long-haul flights from Gatwick to the US and the Caribbean, as well as with Corsair and La Compagnie flights from Paris Orly, and Norwegian flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle.
Connections to Norwegian flights from Amsterdam Schiphol are expected this summer, along with new connections from as-yet unnamed carriers from Venice and Berlin Tegel. Additionally, they will offer connections to Loganair flights from Edinburgh and Inverness, although the start date is yet to be confirmed.
EasyJet stated that more than half of its flights and 53 million customers annually will be able to connect to partner services and other easyJet flights in a single booking.
Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet, expressed excitement about the growth, highlighting the eagerness of partner airports and airlines to join the Worldwide by easyJet connections platform. He confirmed that talks are well-advanced with Middle and Far Eastern carriers and there are plans to expand this service to other easyJet airports across Europe.
